Mihir Bose
Mihir Bose has enjoyed a rich and varied journalistic career for more than 30 years.
He has presented programmes for radio and television, worked for nearly all the major newspapers of the United Kingdom and also written 22 books.
His experience includes writing, editing and acting as a consultant to management on editorial matters. His work for Indian titles includes initiating and advising on the launch of Midday, one of the largest English language daily newspapers in India.
Both his journalism and book writing have won him several awards. These include the business columnist of the year, the sports news reporter of the year, the sports story of the year and the Silver Jubilee Literary award of the Cricket Society of England - the first Indian to win this, the most prestigious award in cricket writing. His history of Apartheid and Sport was runner up in the
William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award.
A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, he worked as chief sports news correspondent of the Daily Telegraph for 11 years before joining the BBC as their first ever Sports Editor in December 2006. He wrote for the paper from 1995 when he created a weekly column, Inside Sport, which examined the growth of sport as a world-wide business and political phenomenon. He has covered all the major sporting events including Olympics and World Cups.
Previously Mihir had a similar job at the Sunday Times editing the Inside Track column. Earlier he edited several business publications and was deputy editor of Financial Weekly and City Features editor of London Daily News, an evening paper in London.
He was consulted by Government ministers in the run-up to London's successful bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. He also served on the Budd Committee which reported to the British Home Office on the subject of gambling and provided the basis of the new United Kingdom gambling legislation.
