Paul Hayward is currently Chief Sports Writer at the Daily Mail - having held the same post at The Daily Telegraph and Guardian – but agreed in the summer of 2008 to rejoin the Guardian group where he will operate as a senior writer for the Observer, Guardian and their highly -rated website.

He has also worked for The Independent and Racing Post.

Sports Writer of the Year in the British Press Awards in 2002 and 2003, he was also the Sports Writers' Association Sports Journalist of the Year in 1996 and is a three-time winner of the Sky Sports trophy for best football writer.

Hayward co-wrote the autobiographies of Sir Bobby Robson and Michael Owen, has penned scripts for BBC football documentaries and is a regular contributor to mainstream TV and radio.
