Sam Wallace
Sam Wallace was appointed chief football writer of The Independent in December 2004 after impressing in his work as north-west football reporter on The Daily Telegraph during the previous two years.
Originally a trainee on sport at the Telegraph, Sam quickly rose through the ranks there and covered a series of major sports and events before specialising in football for that newspaper.
Sam - a regular on television and radio - worked with Peter Crouch on his much applauded autobiography in 2007.
